ATV hitches

ATV hitches enable hauls a regular ATV couldn’t handle. But, it is still very important that those who use these hitches truly understand how important it is that the hitches are able to hold up to the load they are carrying.

This is why there are certain safety tips that are recommended for those using these hitches. By simply taking a little bit of extra precaution, those who use hitches will be able to make sure that all is safe and well.

Here are some things to pay attention to when using hitches:

• Keep the load even – If you are hauling a load, it is very important to keep it even to make sure that too much stress isn’t being placed on the hitch. While a hitch can be built to carry a lot of weight, it may not necessarily be able to do so if the weight is constantly shifting from one side to the other or if there is simply too much weight consistently on one side. By keeping the load even, the burden on the hitch lessens significantly.

• Keep the center of gravity low – Anybody who watches football knows that the best running backs are those who have a low center of gravity. They are less likely to become unbalanced and roll or fishtail. The same thing is true of the trailer you have attached to the hitch. The lower the trailer’s center of gravity is, the harder it will be to topple it or make it fall down. Try to make sure that the hitch is connected at a low point on the trailer to keep its center of gravity low.

• Oil the hitch – If the hitch is not properly oiled, there could be some friction that would make it harder to drive and turn the ATV.

By making sure that you take care of your ATV hitches, you can be sure that you will be safe as well.
